Rev. Brent La Prince Edwards,
GREETINGS!
Welcome to the official website of Evangelism for the Second Episcopal District! On behalf of our awesome and wonderful new Episcopal team, , Bishop James L. Davis, Presiding Prelate and Episcopal Supervisor, Arelis Beevis Davis and the Second Episcopal District Evangelism Component, we greet you in the matchless Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Charles Wesley said it best when he penned the famous words, "And are we yet alive and see each others face? Glory and praise to Jesus give for His redeeming grace!! To God be the glory. Hallelujah!
I am the Reverend Brent La Prince Edwards and by God's grace am pleased to serve as your Director of Evangelism for the Second Episcopal District. It is our desire as members of the Second Episcopal District to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which is to go, win, make, baptize, teach and train disciples via the Good News of the Gospel. (Matthew 28:18-20) It is our aim to carry out the Mission, Purpose and Vision of the African Methodist Episcopal Church through evangelism, church growth and development by providing insight, resources, information, training and empowerment for every church in the Second Episcopal District regardless of demographics. We have approximately 357 congregations from the hills of North Carolina to the shores of Maryland. Our motto is, "No church left behind" as we seek to empower all congregations of the Second Episcopal District through evangelism training whether urban, sub-urban or rural.
We are living in a time where church attendance is not as important to today's Twenty First Century pop culture as decades gone by. Many churches across America and the world are emptying out with more empty pews than filled. Many congregants are quietly leaving through the back doors of our churches often without notice until too late. There is a vast missing population of persons between ages 18 - 40 in many of our churches. Nevertheless, evangelism remains the reproductive catalyst of the Church of Jesus Christ. Without it there can be no future succession leadership and souls will continue to be lost. Thus, the goals of Second Episcopal District Evangelism and this website are fourfold. These are:
To strengthen the holistic health of all congregations regardless of demographics by providing evangelistic services throughout our District so each may have a solid foundation to incorporate successful evangelism principles
To provide excellent training about the mechanics of evangelism, church growth and development so we can not only move from membership to discipleship but also from discipleship to disciple makers!
To provide the necessary tools, resources, literature, workshops, seminars and training needed to further equip our congregations at all levels
To establish a stronger evangelism fellowship among all churches of the Second Episcopal District so we may glean and continue to serve as partnering sources of strength, information and inspiration to one another
We the Second Episcopal District Department of Evangelism are ready to go to work. Because we are better together, get ready for miracles among us. Let's get started!
Enthusiastically & Sincerely Yours in Kingdom Service!
Rev. Brent La Prince Edwards SED Director of Evangelism
